As some of you may know, I’ve recently decided to do a little bit of video game housekeeping. Over the years I’ve amassed quite a few RPGs, many of them, I’m ashamed to say, have virtually been untouched (some of them are still packed in their original cellophane wrapping). It’s easy enough to let something like this happen. You see this cool new RPG, and you tell yourself: “Ooh! I really want a copy of that!”, so you pick it up, but you don’t play it right away, either because you’re already playing something else, or you just don’t have the time it requires to devote to such a hefty endeavor. When I play an RPG, I like to completely dedicate myself to it; to make it feel like it’s the only RPG for me.
Okay, that sounded kind of creepy…
In any case, I’ve recently decided that it was high time I started playing some of these games. I mean, who knows what tomorrow will bring. I could die in a car accident, or get struck by a bolt of lightning, and in such an event, do I really want my last thoughts to linger on the fact that I never beat Dragon Warrior VII? Yeah, I know. Scary.
So here is, for your enjoyment, the list of RPGs I’m going to be tackling. I’ve listed them from oldest to newest (based on the console’s release date – not the game’s) because that’s the way I’ll be playing through them. Also note that they’re all listed in alphabetical order. Yeah, I’m hardcore.
PlayStation:
Arc the Lad Collection
Dragon Warrior VII
Vagrant Story
PlayStation 2:
Dragon Quest VIII
Final Fantasy XII
Kingdom Hearts: Re: Chains of Memories
Kingdom Hearts 2
Persona 3: FES
Persona 4
Star Ocean: Till the End of Time
Wild Arms 3
Xbox 360:
Phantasy Star Universe
Lost Odyssey
Tales of Vesperia
And of course, knowing me, I may eventually pick up a few more titles along the way, so I’ll let everyone know if ever the list changes. I’d also like to hear which of these you guys really liked, or disliked, whether there are other RPGs you think I should play, and which RPGs are still locked away in your closet, just waiting for you to set them free.
