Northern Geekscast: Episode 001

Wednesday, November 5th, 2008

I’m excited to be able to post about something we’ve been keeping a tight lid on for quite some time now. I’ve twittered a bit about it in the past, but I’ve mostly managed to keep it hush-hush. I am, of course, talking about our podcast:

The Northern Geekcast!

(Cool name, eh? Yeah, I totally came up with it.)

The show will air every other week, and will feature myself, GibGezr and a newcomer to the Northern Geeks team: Industria.

In this first inaugural episode, we discuss the games we’ve been playing, the Beatles game, and the Japanese launch of the DSi. We also contemplate Peter Molyneux’s Fable 2 and its shortcomings in our Designers’ Corner segment, and we share our thoughts on the new anime series Xam’d: Lost Memories, which premiered exclusively on the PSN Network in Japan and the United States, in our General Geekeries segment.

If you’d like to send us your comments or questions, you can email us at geekcast [at] northerngeeks [dot] com. Also, be sure to drop by the forums to check out the new podcast section.

Addendum: You can also find the podcast archives by clicking on the Geekcast section up top. Also, before I forget, make sure you check out Bryan’s other podcast over at Bleeding Pixels. It’s awesome!

Northern Geekcast: MIGS 2008

Tuesday, December 2nd, 2008

This year, the Montreal International Gaming Summit (MIGS) attracted over 1500 people from all over the world, from developers, to students, and media. All four of our intrepid podcasters were there to capture the magic in order to return and share a little bit of that magic with you.

Also, here are a few articles from Gamasutra concerning some interesting presentations that were showcased during the event. The first by David Braben; the second, by Jonathan Blow.

Finally, just a quick note to let you know that we’ll be back next week with our regular podcast.
